Traders See Chance of Half-Point Rate Cut After Weak Payrolls

Traders in interest-rate derivatives now see a 100% chance the Federal Reserve will cut benchmark rates this month, including a 12% chance of a larger, half-percentage-point cut, according to CME Group. Wall Street assigned overwhelming odds to a September cut before the latest data, but no chance of a supersized cut of 0.5 percentage point, or 50 basis points. Everyone was probably more keyed-in on the revisions than the headline number.
